Our 5th grade class has been learning about the events that lead to the Revolutionary War. One of the events that we have learned about was the Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre was a fight that began on March 5, 1770 when a crowd of people in Boston got into an argument with British soldiers. The crowd was yelling and throwing snowballs at the soldiers. At some point during the commotion, shots were fired! During this conflict, five colonists were killed. This event became known as the Boston Massacre.
To help students to remember this event, the 5th grade teachers turned their rooms into a crime scene. Students navigated through each station to investigate clues from the scene. After the students had collected evidence from each clue, they had to decide whether the soldiers acted in self-defense or if it was just stone cold murder!
